We love Paris in the winter when it drizzles
We just spent time in Paris in winter. My first foray onto French cobblestones - the art, the antiquity, the vintage! We're hooked!
View from the Louvre (Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel)

Besides the fact you could happily eat your own body weight in mouth watering cheese (thank the heavens it's a walking city) - the antiquity is mind boggling.
It's like taking The Rocks on steroids, adding a couple of centuries, throwing in some Royal Empires and grand artisans, then multiplying it by a thousand. It's stunning and totally overwhelming :)
Little black espresso's for breakfast, crunchy baguettes hot from the oven. Art glorious art (and more art), gold plated domes always on the horizon. Cozy sidewalk bars serving warm red wine, sweetly spiced with cloves and oranges. Old palaces converted to hotels and museums, gently lit up at night. Impeccably dressed Parisienne's in black.
Cycling through slow chaotic traffic with no road rage. Building cleaners delicately chiselling moss from giant stone entrances. Labradors that sit happily inside restaurants, curled up at your feet. Town planning with foresight that keeps high density cities stunning at seven stories and antique markets that meander along for an entire suburb (more on that later). The laid back approach to people and regulations is fascinating.
Chocolate boutiques, handmade leather shoes, Corsican wine from supermarket shelves, original beaded flapper dresses and Edwardian lace tops in mint condition - we could move there in a heartbeat.
Anyone wanna come start a vintage commune with us? We could scour the markets on weekends for 70's silk fringed shawls and bargain with the ladies for 1920's Bakelite domino necklaces. We could start our own online French Vintage Collective….then we could buy all that deco furniture we drooled over, and finish our quest to taste 365 French cheeses…..
